Fight

Hogweed plants will be first fought in numerous residence of the population, as bus stops, squares, parks, hiking trails, bike paths, neighborhood schools, kindergartens, health centers and other public institutions, and through lanes. Equally important is to combat Barszcz Sosnowskiego on the banks of watercourses as Barszcz seeds are spread mostly by flowing water.

To a lesser extent the seeds are spread by wind. Therefore, to achieve the effect of effective eradication, must be annually destroyed hogweed plants in all municipalities located in the catchment area, such as the Dunajec.

Success in combating the borscht can be obtained by destroying the plants of this species complex throughout the community, including among others. landfill, fallow land, fallow land and agricultural land.

To get full success in the fight against borscht in the area, comprehensive measures to eliminate this plant must be continuously implementing annually for 5 years.

In practice, there are two methods for combatying Barszcz Sosnowskiego: through the use of chemical herbicides and by mechanical cutting, excavating the roots, cut off at a depth of 5 cm of the root. Herbicide treatments can be used in areas not protected. Mechanical treatments are recommended damaging protected areas like national parks, conservation zones, the edges of watercourses, etc.

The project activities to combat Barszcz will be carried out comprehensively by the method of direct injection of herbicide into the plant root collar barszczu (also hard to reach areas such as slopes with a slope greater than 20°, bushy field).
